What is KickStart?
KickStart is a new and unique competition for academic and college students, that focuses on ideas and solutions for social issues through entrepreneurship. The competition combines two extremes in the ambition of students: the strive for entrepreneurship with the wish to turn social responsibility into action. KickStart challenges students in the Netherlands to transform social issues into a feasible enterprise.
Who is KickStart?
KickStart is an initiative of Winkelman en Van Hessen, Agency for Marketing and Public Relations. ABN AMRO is main participant and Vedior participant. Through this initiative both companies aim to stimulate graduates towards entrepreneurship. Not only will KickStart have a positive effect on the number of student entrepreneurs. It will also contribute to help solve the social problems that challenge the Netherlands.
Procedure
From April 12 to May 19, students can send in their enterprise
concept. The entry has to address one of the formulated social
questions; ageing, mobility, care, environment, social cohesion,
work productivity and/or innovation or another social theme
of choice. During a spectacular event on Thursday June 16th
the jury will announce the ten nominees.
Nominees will be matched with a personal coach: a Dutch top entrepreneur, and in most cases also investor, who will help them develop a business plan. Nominees will also have the possibility to attend workshops about entrepreneurship. Moreover, nominees are in the running to become winner of KickStart and to receive a substantial fee.
On September 22nd the grand finale takes place during which the jury will announce the winner of KickStart 2005 at the headquarters of ABN AMRO in Amsterdam. For more information about KickStart you can send an e-mail or call 0031 70 4 16 16 57.
